MHTC board to discuss management contract tonight

Staff Writer

The Memorial Hospital of Texas County Board of Control is set to meet tonight in a special meeting that will progress in executive session to discuss and take possible action to approve a management agreement with Chicago-based People's Choice Hospitals.

This meeting comes after the Monday morning decision by county commissioners to move forward with a public trust authority designation for the hospital. It was indicated during that meeting that it was likely the current board members would become the first trustees as part of the new legal entity.

Other rural hospitals in Oklahoma that have closed recently include facilities Sayre Memorial Hospital in Sayre and Epic Medical Center in Eufaula.

People's Choice Hospitals entered in an agreement with Sayre to reopen the facility at the end of April.

A decision will be made during the meeting.
