Lady Tiger volleyball sweeps WT

STINNETT, Texas - The Guymon High School volleyball teams opened the 2016 season on Tuesday evening, with a freshman-JV-varsity sweep of the West Texas Lady Comanches. The freshmen won 25-17, 25-12 as Yadira Longoria recorded four assists, two aces and a kill. Yessenia Longoria had two aces and two kills, Saddie Beasley three aces and Madison Caudell four aces and an assist. Beyonce Villareal added two blocks and an ace.

In the junior varsity contest, Guymon won 25-17, 25-22. Paiton Bowers and Camry Kane each had two aces; Bowers recorded six kills, Kane four and Jayda Gann two; Kane and Gann two blocks each, and Hope Blood recorded five assists and Kiana Aguilar four.

The varsity Lady Tigers swept 25-14, 25-13, 25-14. Katie Blood recorded 10 kills to lead Guymon, Karlee Cotter added seven and Shae Smith four. Maddy Malkuch and Macey LeGrange each had three aces from the service line, while Malkuch recorded three blocks and Smith two. Libero Marlin Carbajal had eight digs on the night, and Malachi Bowers had 11 assists and LeGrange five.

Guymon will be home on Thursday night to face Briscoe Fort Elliott.
