GUYMON — Guymon head coach John Richmond believes his team’s 56-10 loss to Stratford, Texas week was just an anomaly.

The Elks are one of the best 2A teams in Texas, and it was first-game jitters for some of Guymon’s younger players who were seeing their first varsity action. Plus, the Tigers have extra motivation because it’s Homecoming, and the opponent is Liberal, one of Guymon’s biggest rivals who held off a furious Tiger rally to win last year’s contest 30-21 at Redskin Field. Guymon last beat Liberal in 1989 and the Redskins hold a 50-21-4 series edge on the Tigers.

But none of that will matter Friday night.
