SHIRLEY ANN WALTON

Shirley Ann Walton, 76, of Guymon, passed away Tuesday morning August 12, 2014 at the Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas.

The daughter of Harley Lee and Baby Ruth (White) Martin, she was born January 4, 1938 in Ida, Louisiana.

She was married to Ray Walton on May 6, 1956 in Purcell, Oklahoma The family moved to Guymon from Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1966. Shirley was a homemaker, member of the Lifeway Christian Center and TOPS. She loved raising her children and going to church.

HEXIQUIO RIOS

Hexiquio Rios, Jr., 25, of Las Vegas, Nevada formerly of Texhoma, passed away Saturday morning, August 9, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident in Las Vegas.

The son of Hexiquio and Ofelia (Gallegos) Rios, he was born November 28, 1988 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Hexiquio was raised in Texhoma, where he attended the Texhoma school system, graduating with the Class of 2008.

Hexiquio had been a resident of Las Vegas for the past four years, where he was attending college and working as a waiter.

JACQUELINE MAE SHULER

Jacqueline Mae Shuler, 66, our hero, mother and best friend passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014 in the Memory Care Unit of Vintage Place in El Dorado, Kansas.
Jacque was born on March 2, 1948 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Clark Nelson Shuler. and Gladys Mae (Welch) Shuler. Jacque attended and graduated school in Guymon with the class of 1966. Go Tigers!
On April 27, 1968 Jacque was united in marriage to Pat Moore. This union produced two children, Becky Deanne Moore and Philip Daniel Moore. The marriage ended in divorce after 15 years.

LARRY LEE FURR

Larry Lee Furr, 60, of Tyrone, Oklahoma passed away August 9, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
Larry was born June 21, 1954 in Guymon, Oklahoma the son of Floyd S. “Pappy” and Eula Mae Ketcherside Furr.
He grew up in Tyrone where he attended school and graduated from Tyrone High School with the Class of 1973. After graduation he began his lifelong work in the oil field.

CLARA B. GASS

Clara B. Gass, 72 year-old resident of Choctaw, OK, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Born April 10, 1942 she was the daughter of Clifford and Anna (Tower) Holder.
Clara was a longtime “Head Filler” at the Allergy Clinic Lab. She was very active in square dancing and loved crocheting; gardening; and other crafts.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents and by 1 sister.

MICHAEL ALAN GRIFFING

Michael Alan Griffing, 53, passed away Monday morning, July 28th, 2014 at his home in Guymon.
The son of Alfred Lloyd and Ramona Jo (Scott) Griffing, he was born November 13, 1960 in Guymon.
Michael moved to Guymon from Mankato, Minnesota in 1972. He worked in the janitorial service for Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Griffing.

MARY JOYCE (SNAPP) BAKER

August 12, 2014

Mary Joyce (Snapp) Baker died on July 26 at 10:32 p.m. ETMC, Athens, TX after an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1933 in Hereford, TX to William Ray and Minnie Snapp.
She graduated from high school in Guymon, Oklahoma. She went to college at Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She got BA and MA degrees in Health and Physical Education.
She taught 28 years in Irving Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by parents and brother, Charles William Snapp of Baton Rouge, LA.

Larry Mike Whitely “Officer Whitely” was born January 19, 1950 in Alva, Oklahoma to Corbett and Lillian Whitely. He passed away, July 30, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 11 days.

Maurine Carol Dunkerson, 84, of VanAlstyne, Texas formerly of Guymon, Oklahoma passed away Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2014 at the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas.
Maurine was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on May 5, 1930. She lived her early life in Parkston, South Dakota. She moved to Topeka, Kansas in late 1939 with her step-father and mother, James and Vera Decker. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948 and attended the University of Kansas where she remained a steadfast lifelong Jawhawk fan.
