Hooker takes two from Tigers; Tyrone sweeps district championships; Texhoma girls take title

The Hooker Bulldogs tuned up for their impending playoff run Saturday night, jumping off to a 26-2 first quarter lead and cruising to a 68-46 win over Class 5A Guymon in the Tiger gym. The Bulldogs finish the regular season 21-1, their only blemish a 46-40 setback at Forgan on Dec. 19. Since then the 3rd-ranked Bulldogs have won 15 straight and will play host to Mooreland for the Class 2A Area 1 District 1 championship next Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season with their 20th consecutive victory and a 20-point win over the 5A Lady Tigers. But the game wasn’t as lopsided as the score may indicate and featured several stellar individual performance by both sides.

Texhoma girls 31, Boise City 27
The Class A Area 1 District 1 championship belongs to the Lady Devils after a slow-paced 4-point win. After spotting the 19th-ranked Lady Wildcats an 8-4 first quarter lead, Texhoma (14-10) outscored Boise City 14-9 in the second quarter to take an 18-17 halftime lead.

Tyrone girls 60, Goodwell girls 50
The Lady Bobcats won their second straight district championship at home Saturday night, out-pacing the Goodwell Lady Eagles by 10 points for the Class B Area 1 District 1 title.

Tyrone boys 42, Felt boys 39
Brian Holley and Chance Duty scored 28 of Tyrone’s 42 points to lift the 14th-ranked Bobcats to their second straight district championship. Holley scored 16 and Duty 12, Johnathan Corrales added 6, Abraham Valdez 5, Victor Weissel 2 and Alex Torres 1.
