Lady Tigers hold off Chargers; Tiger men fall

Johanna Quintero hit two free throws with nine seconds left to ice it as the Guymon Lady Tigers jumped off to a big first quarter lead and held off a late Heritage Hall rally to sown the Chargers 44-41, Friday night.

The Lady Chargers (4-14 overall) had no answer for Meagan Bellar, who dominated the boards most of the game, especially in the first quarter, where Guymon (6-11) built as much as an 11-point lead. Bellar scored 11 of her 17 total points in the first period. Guymon had the most success running their press defense, but struggled against Heritage Hall’s press.

•In the boys game, Guymon had trouble with the 5th-ranked (4A) Chargers, falling 82-27 for Heritage Hall’s eighth straight win.
