After the Lady Tigers had played well over the weekend, Guymon volleyball head coach Ty Ware expected a stellar performance from the Lady Tigers when West Texas High School, of Stinnett, Texas, visited Tuesday night. Instead, several mistakes cost Guymon the match.
The Lady Comanches bested the Lady Tigers in four sets with scores of 23-25, 20-25, 26-24 and 16-25. The Lady Tigers came within three points in two of the sets they lost and tied the score at 24-24 in the third set before losing it, too.
“We’ve got to get better at our serve-receive. Our serve-receive was terrible. We had no energy,” Ware said.
He described West Texas as not a bad team with a good middle hitter.
“We made a bunch of silly mistakes. A bunch of mental errors,” Ware said.
“I don’t think we played very well overall as a team,” he said.
“I thought Ashton (Sledge) and Kate (Strickland) played well,” Ware added.
Again, Strickland led the Lady Tigers with 17 kills and five aces. Gloris Villa had five kills. Jessie Groves and Erin Bledsoe each had one block. Megan Rogers had 35 assists.

The West Texas JV defeated Guymon 25-23 and 25-18.
“We did very well on our passing. Any time that we got a good pass, we got a kill out of it,” said JV coach Breanne Garrison.
Brooke Arledge and Nehyma Martinez were the team leaders.
The Guymon freshmen team lost 25-21 and 25-19 to West Texas.
