The cost of gas continues to drop as it finally breaks the $3/per gallon marker for Guymon residents, which on average pay more for gas than most of the state of Oklahoma. At left: A local Shell Station, Kent Kwik, proudly displays the competitive price Friday morning.

Guymon to Host Five State Fellowship

Masons from five states will descend on Guymon next month for the annual Five States Fellowship. The annual event rotates amongst Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico and Colorado — and was held in Trinidad, Colo. in 2007.
"It bagan with the Clarton (N.M.) Lodge 20 or 30 years ago," said Clayton Godd, Secretary of Guymon Masonic Ladoge No. 335. "It's designed for Masons to get together and talk about Masonry and fellowship. There's a lot of good food and just visiting."
Goff said the Masons' wives are always involved, with several activities designed for them while the Masons do some of their work, such as practicing degrees.
"There's camaraderie and fellowship," Goff explained.
And this year the Masons will be treated to several programs. including a supper at Draper's where Dr. Sarah Richter will give a presentation on the Santa Fe Trail.
"We've got some programs coming from ledges downstate," Goff said. "We have a program talking about some of the programs the Masonic charity does, and a program talking about how the Shriner's hospitals help children."
The Masons will charge a $60 fee for all Masons who want to participate, and Goff is hoping for a decent turnout.
"They had about 60 or 70 at Trinidad last year," Goff said. "We're hoping to have that many but with the high price of gas, we're worried."
For more information, contact Goff at 338-8684 or Paul Evans at 338-0415.
