The city is rapidly moving toward a resolution of its water woes. And although it won't be a short-term fix, the city will be in good shape in the long run.
The Guymon Utilities Authority Tuesday night approved permits for the construction of one 500 gallon-per-minute water well about 360 feet deep, a 1,000 gallon-per-minute well that's 380 feet deep and a 650 gallon-per-minute well at a depth of 320 feet.
The wells will be dug on the northeast side of Guymon on land recently acquired through the Boys Ranch litigation.
In addition, the city approved a permit for a gas chlorine disinfection system and 3,200 feet of 12-inch PCV raw water line.
The second permit approved was for the construction of a one million gallon water storage tank, one 3,000 gallon-per-minute booster pump station, 17,200 feet of 16-inch PVC water line and 11,700 feet of 12-inch PVC water line.
"We'll be receiving bids July 31 for both projects," said City Manager Ted Graham.
