Kim Tuttle, of Guymon, will be competing for Miss Teen Oklahoma this month in Norman.
The pageant will be on July 18-20 and the winner will recieve a $1,000 cash scholarship and a $1,000 U.S. savings bond.

The title holder will also be eligible to compete for the national title and  other scholarships, awards and prizes.
Tuttle has competed twice before, giving her some experience with the pageant. In the previous pageants, she placed in the top ten.
According to Tuttle, even if she does not win the competition, she plans to stay actively involved with the program. She intends to do so by volunteering on the staff of the Arkansas and New York programs this summer.
"I truly believe this program opens young women's eyes to their true inner potential and endless possibilities," Tuttle said.
Tuttle is looking forward to making the Panhandle proud and advancing past the top ten this year.
Each state candidate will be scored in five judging categories: scholastic record, achievement and service to school and community, personal development of talent and skills,  personality projections in formal wear and interview.
The State Pageant Finals will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, in Meacham Auditorium on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman. The event is open to the general public, and tickets will be available for purchase at the door.  Special guests will include the current reigning Miss Teen of Oklahoma, Samantha Ali of Fairview.
Tuttle is a 2008 graduate of GHS and is the daughter of Steve and Rita Tuttle of Guymon.

I have to say, I was so disappointed in the Pioneer Days parade this year. It just seemed to be one long commercial for businesses, hardly any floats that exhibited the theme, which was what? And any Tom, Dick,or Harry could drive his car in it. Where has the spirit of Pioneer Days gone? My dad was born north of Guymon in 1912, lived there his entire life, and died there in 1994. He was 81 years old. He was a true pioneer. He was a farmer who survived the dust bowl days. He saw so many things come to pass and he got to witness the evolution of all those wonderful things. He and so many like him are the kinds of people we need to honor with Pioneer Days. We should never forget our roots. People say that Guymon hasn't changed. Oh,yes it has!! No matter where I live, Guymon will always be home even though my parents have passed on. I am proud to say I am from Guymon. I enjoy coming home especially for Pioneer Days, but I hope next year it looks more like the Pioneer Days I grew up with. Pioneer Days is the one thing that shouldn't change and should always honor those who paved the way in the Panhandle.
