Chavez won the overall title at the preliminary pageant held in Guymon in February and went on to take the title at the Tulsa state pageant in May.
She competed in three categories: playtime where she wore a pink, yellow, green and white sun dress with sandals; casual wear, sporting her capri pink and white striped dress set with her hair swooped into a pony tail, and in party wear she wowed the judges with a beautiful long curly black hair set off with her light pink and white flowing dress with a lace tiara on embroidered on the front.
“I am super proud because she is such a smart and beautiful baby and I love her to death,” said her mom, Santana Chavez.
This is Chavez’s first pageant, but probably not her last as she has a great start winning such an honor as a toddler.
She is getting ready for the next step, which is International is Las Vegas the last weekend in July. She and her family will be holding a few fundraisers to help pay her way to Las Vegas. They will be selling pizza kits, cookie dough and they will have a chicken drop on July 1.
Jazmine is the daughter of Santana Chavez, the granddaughter of Louise and Maria  Chavez of Guymon and the niece of Joey and Mandy Chavez of Hooker.
If you would like to sponsor Jazmine or would like to help her earn her way to Internationals by purchasing a ticket for the chick drop, pizza or cookie dough contact her mother, Santana Chavez at (580) 338-4992 from 8-5 p.m.

I have to say, I was so disappointed in the Pioneer Days parade this year. It just seemed to be one long commercial for businesses, hardly any floats that exhibited the theme, which was what? And any Tom, Dick,or Harry could drive his car in it. Where has the spirit of Pioneer Days gone? My dad was born north of Guymon in 1912, lived there his entire life, and died there in 1994. He was 81 years old. He was a true pioneer. He was a farmer who survived the dust bowl days. He saw so many things come to pass and he got to witness the evolution of all those wonderful things. He and so many like him are the kinds of people we need to honor with Pioneer Days. We should never forget our roots. People say that Guymon hasn't changed. Oh,yes it has!! No matter where I live, Guymon will always be home even though my parents have passed on. I am proud to say I am from Guymon. I enjoy coming home especially for Pioneer Days, but I hope next year it looks more like the Pioneer Days I grew up with. Pioneer Days is the one thing that shouldn't change and should always honor those who paved the way in the Panhandle.
