The Heritage Community of Guymon continues its building efforts despite the unusual snow/rain of “Mother Nature” the past several months.

Special to The Guymon Daily Herald

The Heritage Community of Guymon continues its building efforts despite the unusual snow/rain of “Mother Nature” the past several months.

The multi-million dollar building project includes 24 private Assisted Living apartments, 12 Dementia (Alzheimer) units, and a new commercial kitchen that will serve both the Heritage Community & Dr WF & Mada Dunaway Manor residents.

Determine the Oklahoma Panhandle’s weather is sometimes as complicated as investing in the stock market.  Rain, snow, sunshine and wind can all be present in a single day as we have recently witnessed.

“We were fortunate to have such a nice weather over the holidays which placed our building project slightly ahead of schedule,” said builder Floyd Kalm (Kalm Construction LLC).  “While I love and appreciate the moisture, my job as the General Contractor is to anticipate any issues that could arise during the building and successfully complete the project on schedule.”

The project is set to be complete around June/July 2011; however, it is the goal of the Heritage Community that the Assisted Living facility opens by Christmas of this year (if possible) and the Alzheimer (Dementia) Unit opens by June/July 2010.

With the recent weather challenges, Kalm has been skillfully maneuvering the building phases with the partnership and dedication of his sub-contractors.  “The strength and efficiency of a building project is much like a family working together. Communication and respect are critical factors in achieving the outcome,” added Kalm.

The Heritage Community is a 501(c)3 organization which is owned and operated by The Dr WF & Mada Dunaway Manor Inc. (The Manor).
