Elections will be held in February to determine who will sit on several Texas County school districts' school boards.
In Guymon, running unopposed is current school board member Mitzi Dain for Office No. 5. Also unopposed are Mike Johnson for Yarbrough School District Office No. 5, Kelly Maneth for Tyrone School District Office No. 5 and Roger Valliquette for Straight School District Office No. 1.
Hardesty's School District will be a race between Mitch Tharp and Paul Mayer.
Vying for Hooker School District Office No. 5 are Anna ArVel White and Ruth Rollins. in Office No. 4, Kevin Hofferber is the lone filer for the unexpired term.
In Goodwell, Office No. 5 is up for grabs by A. James Benjamin, Jr. and Cory Rose.
Filing for Turpin School Distirct in Beaver County Office No. 5 was Aaron Levins. Shelby M. Williams and Frank King are both vying for the unexpired term for Office No. 3
Optima School District Office No. 1 saw no filers and no one in Texas County filed for Keyes School District Office No. 5. A person in Cimarron County did file, but there will not be an election. The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the annual school election scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in a runoff election on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
Also up for grabs is Texhoma School District Office No. 5. Candidates wishing to fill this office may file a declaration at the County Election Board office beginning this morning until Wednesday at 5 p.m., according to Melissa King, Secretary of the Texas County Election board.
