The crowd poured in with anticipation to the re-opening of the Southgate theatre in Liberal, Kan., on Thursday night, it is now Mitchell Theatre Southgate 6. "We are very pleased with the turn-out, " said Southgate Manager Willie Walker. "We sent out a lot of invitations and it looks like just about everyone came out to enjoy our newly remodeled theatre." The former four-screen theatre has been closed since August and has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation, it is now equipped with six screens, stadium seating, high back rocker seats and DTS digital surround sound, as well as a brand new box office, concession stand and lobby. Both bathrooms have been completely redone also. The Mitchell's have added an arcade and party room to ensure that there is fun for everyone. One auditorium is dedicated for the newly enhanced 3D digital films, like "Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey. The Mitchell's are expecting a very busy weekend at both Guymon and Liberal's movie theaters with the release of the second installment of the "Twilight" series, "New Moon". "As both Southgate 6 and Northridge 8 midnight shows of "New Moon" sold out in less than 48 hours, we anticipate a busy weekend," said Brian Mitchell, owner of both theaters. Southgate 6 has hired additional staff to ensure the best customer service to the public during the holiday season. "We appreciate everyone's patience during Liberal's temporary closing and assure you it was worth the wait." said Mitchell.
