Children from all over the world deserve a chance to hear the story of Jesus and also experience the great feeling of receiving a Christmas gift. Thanks to volunteers who donate their time to Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse, many children from several different countries will have that chance. Jill Johnson began the relay center here in Guymon, Okla., four years ago, there are limited relay centers in the United States. The Nazarene Church, located at 2214 N. Sunset Lane, is the drop-off point for those interested in bringing a shoe-box filled with goodies for a boy or girl to enjoy and find out about the story of Jesus in their own language. Simply grab an empty shoe-box, it can be packed with items for a boy or girl. Fill the box with the following gift suggestions, school supplies, small toys, hygiene items, hard candy (please put all candy in a zip-lock baggy), t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, flashlights and much much more. To help with shipping costs of the shoe-boxes, a $7 donation is asked upon delivery but not mandatory. This year, those interested in sending their shoe-box can donate their $7 online, they will receive a barcode and essentially find out which country the shoe-box is sent to. If interested in checking into the online incentive, visit www.samaritanspurse.org/ezgive.com. If interested in bringing a shoe-box for a boy or girl aged two-14 years of old, drop off at the Nazarene Church Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The boxes are being collected from November 16-22, they will then be driven to Dodge City, Kan., by Jerry Watkins, Terry Bookout and Jim Osborne, from there they will be shipped to Denver, Colo., where they will be shipped all over the world.
