The week of Veteran's Day and people aren't showing love to our country.... What TRAV has to say about it.

I am the proud brother of a United States Airman. I am the proud nephew of one active, one retired and one former soldier in the US Army. I am the proud cousin of a US Airman. I am the proud great grandson of WWII Veteran injured in combat. That's my story, but we probably all have a similar one. We are all affected by people in our family serving in the Armed Forces. Some may even be overseas. My brother along with his girlfriend are both deployed to Turkey and Afghanistan, respectively. My cousin is deployed in a war stricken country. So many of our loved ones are serving and fighting for the country in which we all love. After all, it is the greatest country on this planet Earth, right? It's sad to think about, but many times so many people in our country don't show the love and patriotism we should. Instead, we fight. Some call this politics. You know what I call this? I call it ridiculous nonsense. How about our legislature stop worrying about themselves and actually work to properly fix things that are so broken in our society. Granted, things are being done with the economy and healthcare systems... but how long did it take us to get there? And are we really even there? I'd like to think that our lawmakers can work together to find one common solution for our economy and healthcare among other huge issues.... but NO. That is not the case. In the recent passage of the healthcare reform bill in the US House of Representatives, only one Republican voted on the Democratic bill. The vote was almost half and half. That means that barely over half of our Representatives agreed on it, yet it's still going through and on its way to the Senate. You know what I call this? I call it ridiculous nonsense. How can it be that our lawmakers can barely decide on anything, and when it's decided... the vote is close, meaning so many don't agree on it. Party lines. This is a key problem with this. Why should we even refer to a bill as a "Republican bill" or "Democratic bill"? It's a bill for the people of this country, period. Our President. You may not agree with him, but guess what? He's our President. Get over it. He won, fair and square. He is our elected leader and we should treat him with the utmost dignity and respect. I'm sick and tired of comedians and people who really don't know what they are talking about criticizing President Obama. You know what I call this? I call it ridiculous nonsense. We must all start having a better attitude about our country. We probably hear this more than we want, but yes, we are lucky to live in this nation. This nation was "...conceived in liberty." We are free individuals to think, speak and do as we please, but seriously... is the negative, nasty attitude that many of us have towards our country necessary? NO. Veteran's Day was Tuesday, but you know what? Every day should be Veteran's Day. Why do we need to allocate one day a year to thank the men and women protecting our freedom? We should be doing this every day, because we are all living here, thanks to them, every day. Remember those who have fallen, pray for those serving, and thank all those who defend and have defended this great United States of America.
And that's how Trav C's it.
