The Guymon Airport Board was in for a pleasant surprise from City of Guymon's Public Works Director Ivan Clark on Tuesday morning. Clark announced that Guymon's Airport had received the Oklahoma Airport of the Year Award. "We owe a lot of gratitude to Mike Winn, he is our new Airport Project Director," said Clark. "Mr. Winn nominated us. He has learned a lot, and has quite the area to take over." "This represents the southwest region in the state of Oklahoma," said Clark. "The southwest region consists of Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arkansas. We were the Oklahoma winner. I really wanted to present this to the Board today because this represents a lot of hard work." The Board also announced that Si Perkins and Jerry Wing's three-year-term will expire in December 2009. Wing told the board that he would be happy to stay. At the last meeting, the Board voted on going from seven to five Board members. The Board informed Perkins that they would be a six member Board if he was interested in staying. A special meeting will be held Friday, October 23, to discuss and take possible action on recommending two members whose terms expire. The final decision will be voted on at the following City Council meeting.
