Health Dept. Forced to Cancel Area Towns’ Flu Clinics By MIRANDA GILBERT Managing Editor Flu vaccines have ran out. Due to high demand this year, and a shortage of vaccines nationwide, the Texas County Health Department reports it will not be able to hold flu clinics for area towns. Guymon held a flu clinic Wednesday, Oct., 14, in which residents waiting in line for hours for their chance to get the shot, or the nasal vaccine, or both if they wanted the regular flu vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine. Priority for pregnant women, children, asthmatics, and the elderly was given for the H1N1 vaccine. TCHD said in a statement Tuesday, it "regrets that the flu clinics in Adams, Hardesty, Hooker and Tyrone have been cancelled on October 26, 2009, and the Texhoma, Goodwell and Yarbrough clinics on October 27, 2009, due to the unavailability of vaccine.” As the entire state eagerly awaits more of the vaccines, the clinics will be rescheduled as soon as they become available.
