Raffle tickets are now being sold for the No Man's Land Historical Society's Pioneer Gala. The tickets that are purchased will be for a quilt entitled "Forgotten Farms." The quilt will be reversed raffled and is made by Nancy Gribble Davis. According to Debbie Colson, director and curator of the No Man's Land Historical Society (NMLHS), Davis is well-known for her quilts and quilted "Forgotten Farms." The quilt features nine blocks of old barns, one of which is the round barn of Arcadia and another is the centennial barn in Texas County. The "Forgotten Farms" quilt was entered this year in a quilt show at Liberal and the Texas County Fair, winning first place at both events. "Growing up on the farm and the love of the farm inspired me to make "Forgotten Farms," Davis said. "The history of the barns is appropriate for the museum, knowing that the farms have dwindled over the years." The gala will be held on Saturday, October 24 at the Pickle Creek Center. Only 400 raffle tickets are for sale and are $10 each. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or from any NMLHS Governing Council member. Need not be present to win.
