Guymon students were visited by the General Tommy Franks 60-foot traveling museum this week. General Franks joined the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam where he was shot three times, he earned six awards for his stint in the war. The decorated officer has moved all over the world, from West Germany at the height of the Cold War to the Demilitarization Zone in Korea to the deserts of Arabia. He has established a name for himself in American history. Brad Davis and Carolyn Jameson visited Guymon with the traveling museum. Guymon Public School children were given a tour of the traveling museum. Last year the museum visited 77 schools and over 17,000 students. The museum is complied of gifts given to the four-star General from 24 countries, including Kazakhstan, Tamarlane, Turkemenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kygystan. “The actual museum located in Hobart, Okla., has 10 times the things than this traveling museum,” said Davis. “The museum is open Monday through Saturday and is free of charge,” said Jameson.
