Miss Texhoma Pageant Keeps Tradition Alive |

Character, self-esteem and self-confidence was seen by all 13 girls who competed for the title of Miss Texhoma and MIss Princess. The Miss Texhoma and MIss Princess Pageant was held on Saturday, August 22 at the Texhoma High School Auditorium and was sponsored by the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Chapter of Gamma Theta Sorority. The title of Miss Texhoma was given to Megan Joy Wackler. Wackler is a sophomore at Texhoma High School and is the daughter of Pastor John and Diane Wackler. The first runner-up in the Miss Texhoma Pageant was Haeli Rae Grice and the second runner-up was Jowie Hager, Other contestants in the Miss Texhoma Pageant were Randall Pugh, Franceny Marrufo, Jessica Lomax, Britni Reust, Mildred Amaya and Matison Jones. The title of Miss Princess was given to Ann Elizabeth Freeman. Freeman is a freshman at Texhoma High School and is the daughter of Mark and Vicki Freeman. Other contestants in the Miss Princess Pageant were Tana Koehn, Shayla Gaillard and Caitlyn Romero. The title of Miss Congeniality was given to Jowie Hager. Each contestant was judged on stage presentation, interview and an essay. The contestants were required to submit the essay before the contest and had to answer the question, "What is a happy day to you?" The winner of the Miss Texhoma Pageant received a $250 scholarship, a bouquet sash, plaque and tiara. The winner of the MIss Princess Pageant received a $150 scholarship, bouquet sash, plaque and tiara. The scholarship was provided by First National Bank of Texhoma, Goodwell and Guymon, Mike and Julie Berry and Texhoma Wheat Growers. The bouquet sash, plaque and tiara were provided by the sorority. The Gamma Theta Sorority would like to thank Danyelle Minton, THS Band Director for providing music; Sean Abbott as spotlight technician; Virginia Elliott for flowers; Sherry Diller and Andi Parsons Perez for being pageant consultants; LeAnn's Restaurant for providing meals for the judges; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Taylor of Guymon for loaning the cars used in "Grease"; Pete and Monica Martinez for painting the car pink; Bob Mitchell for the use of his barn; Bruce Cornelsen for providing his orange motorcycle for the stage; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Pugh for providing three classic cars for the entrance to the audiorium.
