Security Cameras are in the works to be placed at Centennial Park. The Parks Board met Friday, June 19, to go over the current conditions of each park in Guymon and future plans for those parks. Walter Jackson was present as the newest edition to the Board. Lee Fowler reported that Fowler park has made no progress on their tennis courts, has a few dead tree branches, but overall the park is in decent condition. Tim Fields, Parks Director informed the Board that refurbishing Fowler Park is in the budget for the upcoming year. The work to refurbish will be done by the City. "Replacing the wiring in the light-box, repainting the tennis court and several other plans are in the works," said Fields. A request to repave the walking path was mentioned by some of the Board members. Trash being laid by the dumpsters at Fowler Park was also an issue the park has been facing. One of the main issues the Board was concerned with was the lack of a plan on when and how the parks are going to be refurbished or simply receive maintenance. Fields agreed to present a plan on how to go about getting these parks in order. Centennial Park was reported to be in the works to receive security cameras in the near future. Also, Larry Wirtz inquired about planting more trees at Oklahoma Park in order to make the park the way it once was, covered by large trees making it a shady comfortable park. No other large problem s were reported by the Board. The Board did suggest that a five-year plan be presented to get Guymon's beautification process under way. Fields informed the Board of the upcoming plans on Thompson Park at Sunset Lake. The bathrooms on the east side are underway and should be completed by the end of July. Spraying for bugs in nearly complete at all of the parks.
