The Annual Flatlanders Car Show had a great turn-out, despite the 90 degree windy Oklahoma weather. Over 100 cars were in attendance at Sunset Lake, 80 of which were entered in the car show. Over $2,000 was given away in cash prizes on Saturday. Friday evening kicked the car show at Pickle Creek for registration, burgers, a police escorted cruise to Sonic and ended at Corral Drive-In Theatre where participants and club members took in "Night at the Museum 2" and "American Graffiti." On Saturday, a variety of classic vehicles, their owners and the public enjoyed hourly drawings, a silent auction and even a burn-out contest. Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., the fun began. Taking 1st place in the Antique category was Elaine Fritzon of Liberal, Kan. for her 1935 Pontiac Coupe and winning 2nd was Dave Bozone of Rolla, Kan. for a 1966 Corvette. Winning 1st place in the 1950's classic car category was Tom Turner of Pampa, Texas for his 1957 Oldsmobile. Coming in 2nd was Braxton Reynolds of Hugoton, Kan. for his 1957 Chevy Belair. Winning 1st in the 1960's classic car category was Clayton Gerrond of Hugoton, Kan. for his 1966 Corvette. Taking 2nd was Larry Turner of Dumas, Texas for his 1966 GTO. Winning 1st place in the 1970's classic car category was Jason Miller of Guymon, Okla. for his 1976 Corvette. Taking 2nd was Terry Maas of Hugoton, Kan for his 1974 VW Convertible. Taking 1st in the 1980's to current category was Jonathan Byers of Guymon, Okla. for his 2007 Ford Mustang. Steve Showers of Hugoton, Kan. took 2nd for his 1980 Trans Am. Taking 1st in the modified category was Kevin Alexander of Liberal, Kan. for his 1976 Corvette. Rick Oquin took 2nd for his 1957 Chevy Sedan. Taking 1st in the street rod category was Larry Dutcher of Dumas, Texas for his 1937 Coupe. Darrel Livesay of Guymon, Okla. took 2nd for his 1934 Coupe. Taking 1st in the special interest category was Stacie Reid of Guymon, Okla. for her 1974 VW Karma. Jack Croisant of Woodward, Okla. took home 2nd place for his 1963 Scout. Taking 1st place in the muscle car event was Rick Knoll of Holcomb, Kan. for his 1969 GTO. Jason Edison of Guymon took home 2nd place for his 1969 Camaro. Taking home 1st place for the pre-1960's pickup category was JW Barry of Amarillo, Texas for his 1934 Ford Pickup. Fred Nymeyer of Panhandle, Texas took home 2nd place for his 1953 Chevy Pickup. In the post 1960's pickup category, Arlen CHildress of Guymon, Okla. took home 1st place for his 1966 Ford Pickup. Sonny Halpin of Perryton, Texas won 2nd place for his 1971 Ford Ranchero. The prize for the person traveling the longest distance went to Robert Nelson, who came from Colorado Springs, Colo., the prize for this category was $50. The best of show award for $100 went to Lawrence Maytum of Guymon, Okla. for his 1951 Mercury. The dealers choice award was good for $100 to each vehicle the three participating car dealerships voted on as being the best. Hinchey Ford awarded JW Barry $100 for his 1934 For Pickup. Clark Auto gave $100 to Steve Showers for his 1980 Trans Am Pace Car. Chrysler Corner, Inc. out of Liberal awarded Steve Holt $100 for his 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Hourly drawings giving $100 away left four people smiling, Wendy Mills, Denny Deaver, Chase Blesoe and Gene Davis were the luck recipients of the money. The 50/50 pot was won by Andie Croisant of Woodward, Okla., she walked away with $169.00. THe Poker Run was won by Mike Edison, he donated his $100 winnings to the Flatlanders Car Club. The burn-out competition was won by Ryan Mirelas of Victoria, Texas, the prize was $100, Bob's Cowboy Bar donated the money for the burn-out competition. The winners of the silent auction were Eric lammes off Guymon, Okla., he won 18 holes of golf at Sunset Hills Golf Course and Frank Bourne of Goodwell, Oka. won a leather jacket. The winner of the Bar-B-Que grill was Dennis Calsing of Guymon, Okla. The GPS system winner was Len Lovato. The winner of the $150 drawing was Jack Croisant and he donated the money to Pay it Forward. "Many of the winners donated their winnings back into the club," said Cindi Taylor, Flatlanders Car Club Member. "We appreciate all of the help from the community and their generosity to make it able to hold events that give money back to the community."
