Local Band’s Battle Makes Waves

Local band, Bipolar Echo dominated the Battle of the Bands contest held in Garden City, Kan., being proclaimed the Mosaic Battle of the Bands. The prize? The opening slot for REO Speedwagon in Garden City, Kan. Saturday, August 29. The band is comprised of five musicians; Raymond Christie on guitar, Brad Duren on drums and vocals, Amber Hollis-Fesmire on keyboard and vocals, Ramiro "Tiny" Rosalez on bass and vocals and Kevin Wale on guitar and vocals. "They have been a band for almost two years now," said booking agent/manager Jodi Rae. "They had to battle 11 other bands in Garden City. They will be performing their cover songs and a few of their original songs for the opening of REO Speedwagon." According to a letter from the band's myspace page, "to say they were both surprised and and excited was a vast understatement!" The band wishes to acknowledge the support of their "Echo Heads" who made the trek to Garden City! In the words of the judge of the Garden City Competition, the band had it won with their first song alone, Journey's, "Seperate Ways." Admission for the Garden City concert begin at $35 and up, depending on the location.
