The Seventh Annual Five State Run saw lots of success and a large turnout this year. The Seventh Annual Five State Run that was held in Guymon on Saturday, May 9 saw a large number of bikes and riders this year. There were 960 total bikes with 1286 different riders that participated. "The turnout was great this year and it has increased every year we have had this event. The weather was better this year as well, as we were told several times by those that participated as well. There wasn't very much wind and it was nice and sunny. It turned out to be a great day," said Nancy Davis of the Iron Thunder. The first place hand winner was Sharon Taylor from Oklahoma City, Okla. with a Full House and was awarded $3,000. The second place winner was Johnny Glassy of Perryton, Texas with a Queen high Flush and was awarded $1,500. The third place winner was Leroy Hankins of Chickasha, Okla. with a King High Straight and won $500. The 50/50 Pot winner was Lisa Williams of Shawnee, Okla. and won $533. Special awards were given out as well to several different categories. The longest distance rode to attend was Nick Henderson from Denton, Texas who drove over 400 miles to attend. The Oldest Rider was awarded to Ivan Nance from Stinnett, Texas who won with 85 years of age. According to him this is his fourth year to receive this plaque. The Youngest Rider was awarded to Justin Hamilton of Holdenville, Okla. who won the award with 8 years of age. The Youngest Driver was awarded to Justin Lanning of Stratford, Texas who won with 18 years of age. The proceeds of the Five State Run are used to help those with medical needs in the Oklahoma Panhandle area. $26,000 was given out in 2008 to those that needed it.
