Although the onset of winter snow storms can make ones schedule a little hectic with driving, the dismissal of school and just getting from point A to point B, no one  can deny the beauty that comes with a heavy snow fall. This snow-packed tree is evidence of this.

Sunday, 29 March 2009

Barricades block U.S. Highway 412 at Mile 32 east of Guymon on Saturday, as road conditions east of town toward Woodward remained treacherous. All roads, however, reopened on Sunday with the exception of U.S. 412 between Elmwood and Slapout in Beaver County.

All roads in Texas, Cimarron, Harper and Woodward counties were opened on Sunday, with the exception of the stretch of U.S. Highway 412 between Elmwood and Slapout in Beaver County due to contonued clearing of snow drifts.

The National Weather Service reported 14 inches of snow in Guymon and 12 inches in Goodwell. But the big winner was Hooker, which reported 24 inches of snow. Snow drifts in Guymon were in the 3- 4-foot range, although some drifts as high as 6 feet were reported.
