A Boise City man was reportedly in critical condition Saturday at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo after a wreck in front of Hitch Feedyard on Friday afternoon. A 2004 Ford driven by Alvaro Alvarez, 30, of Liberal, Kan., was eastbound on Road Z, east of Highway 207, at approximately 12:05 p.m. when a 1989 Ford, driven by Preston Thornton, 20, of Boise City, exited a private drive, and did not stop at the stop sign. Alvarez's vehicle struck Thornton's vehicle on the front passenger side. Thornton was ejected out the front window of the vehicle. A passenger in Thornton's vehicle, Cody Loftin, 24, of Hardesty was taken to Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon where he was treated and released. Alvarez was not injured. Seatbelts were not in use in Thornton's vehicle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. The accident was investigated by Trooper Ryan Williams of the Guymon Detachment and assisted by Lt. David Welch, the Texas County Sheriff's Department, Guymon EMS and Guymon Fire Department.
