The Annual Texas County School Board Election will be held on Feb. 10, 2009.
Voters in the county who wish to have absentee ballots mailed out to them for the election for Guymon I-8, Goodwell I-60, Keyes I-11 and Turpin I-128, should apply as soon as possible.
While applications for absentee ballots cannot be accepted until the deadline at 5 p.m., Wed., Feb. 4, County Election Board Secretary Melissa King is urging absentee voters to apply early.
"At least two mail transactions must be made.  The County Election Board must mail the ballots to the voter and the voter must return the voted ballots by mail."  King said.  The deadline for absentee ballots is 7 p.m. on election day, Feb. 10.
Special conditions which require registered voters to utilize the absentee ballots are if the voter is physically incapacitated or cares for someone who cannot be left unattended, if the voter is confined to a nursing home or for Military personnel living overseas.  Military personnel should get in contact with the Voting Service Officers for application forms, or from U.S. Embassies and Consulates.
A two-member, bipartisan voting board will be on hand to provide assistance for casting absentee ballots, Fri., Feb. 6, or Mon., Feb. 9, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If a voter becomes physically incapable after 5 p.m. on Tue., Feb. 3, he or she can still vote on an emergency basis.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. and run until 7 p.m., Feb. 10, 2009, at the following polling locations;  Precinct (P)102: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5402 Memory Ln., Guymon.  P104: Tyron City Hall, 102 W.
