It won’’t be Friday night lights in the Panhnadle this week as all football games are scheduled for Thursday night because of fall break.
The Guymon Tigers visit Carl Albert High School in Midwest City.
The Tigers, having lost all seven games played so far this season, face the 2-5 Titans at 7:30 p.m.
The Tigers hosted Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School of Oklahoma City last week for Guymon’s third home game this year. That game was a 73-0 loss for Guymon. The Tigers lost the previous game 83-6 at Deer Creek.
The final two games of this season will be against El Reno and Western Heights Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, both in Guymon. Both 5A teams are believed to be weaker competitors than McGuinness, Deer Creek or Carl Albert. Some people have speculated that Guymon could sneak one or two late season wins.
“We’ve got a chance,” said Guymon head coach Bryan Ballard after the Bishop McGuinness game. Then he added a hint of caution. “Not the way we played tonight. There were a lot of stupid mistakes tonight. That team is good, but we made them look really good.”
Thursday night might prove to be a showdown of the undefeateds as the Texhoma Red Devils visit the 7-0 Fairview Yellowjackets.

Texhoma is ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in separate polls. Fairview is unranked.
The Yellowjackets beat Hooker 71-18 two weeks ago.
Getting off to a good start in August and then dropping three games, the Hooker Bulldogs have a record of 4-3 and are looking to improve to 5-3 with a visit from Mooreland Thursday night.

The Eagles are playing at Shattuck, a 1-5 team.

With the Bobcats looking for another “W” late in the season, a visit from the 1-6 Waynoka Railroaders might be just what Tyrone is needing now.
The Bobcats gave Boise City a 56-0 drubbing last Friday.
Two weeks ago, Tyrone did the same to Kremlin-Hillsdale, beating that team 44-0 and a big win over Shattuck three weeks ago.
The Bobcats got off to a good start this season, winning their first two games by the 45-point (mercy) rule in the third quarter each time.
The Oklahoma 45-point rule for 8-man football also worked against Tyrone twice this season with 45-point wins over the Bobcats for their two losses.
