There were nineteen tails wagging and plenty of dog lovers and owners were present at the Tractor Supply parking lot to participate in and watch the 2nd Annual Just For Fun Dog Show put on by the Guymon Jr. 4-H Club and Tractor Supply on Saturday morning.
This dog show was an outlet to give community members a chance to share their dogs with others in the community.  Tractor Supply has their Pet Appreciation Week (PAWS), and this was an event the Jr. 4-H Club could use as an outlet to help celebrate it.
The show included nine different categories for the owners to enter their dogs in, each with a first, second, and third place ribbon. They also named Grand Prize and Reserve Champion winners at the end of the show.
Tractor Supply donated goodie bags with cups, key chains, and other items to all participants in each category, and category winners also received Frisbees. All participants and children in the audience received “people treats” which were dog bone shaped sugar cookies that ended up being a big hit for all.
“I loved seeing other pet owners sharing their dogs and also have a great way to socialize their dogs to behave better in public,” said Sherry Lindley, who helped put on the dog show. “A well behaved pet is joy to be around.”
Not only was this a fun dog show, but this was also very beneficial for Tractor Supply’s PAWS event. As a backdrop to the dog show, there were more wagging tails and barking dogs excited to see so many people. These dogs were in their pens with hopes of being adopted into to a great family. It was a great success with the expert assistance of the crew from DAWGS N Texas of Dalhart, they were able to find homes for ten dogs. Three were from Goodwell’s animal shelter, five from Guymon’s animal shelter and two from Dalhart’s.
