Special sales tax proposed to support hospital

Staff Writer

In November, the Memorial Hospital of Texas County Board of Control discussed a proposal to present before the Texas County Board of Commissioners, requesting a special sales tax to support the hospital. During those discussions, items were discussed that would be placed on the March 1, 2016 ballot.
Not only was a special sales tax requested, but also a bond issue election. While the bond issue would not immediately issue any bonds for the hospital’s purposes, it could allow commissioners to choose to do so in the future.
