Peanut recall halts Panhandle Lions fundraiser

November 1, 2012

Due to the FDA recalling peanuts from our long-time supplier, Sunland, the Panhandle Lions Club will not be selling peanuts. The decision to cancel the fundraiser did not come easy as the club understands the demand; however, the Panhandle Lions Club felt it was a responsibility to maintain good faith in our community to cancel the order for peanuts.
Once the FDA allows the Portales, New Mexico Company to once again provide peanut and peanut products to the consumer, the Panhandle Lions Club will schedule the sale of peanuts for next holiday season.
The Panhandle Lions Club is an active service club in Guymon with many service projects that promote health, vision, wellness and happiness to our many community members. In order to meet the needs of our mission statement, “We serve”, the club must host fundraisers. Please support the efforts of the Panhandle Lions Club through donations, contributions and volunteering.
