Lady Tigers volleyball season ends with loss to OBA at Regionals

The Guymon Lady Tigers volleyball team was eliminated from the Regional Tournament earlier this week at Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid.
The Lady Tigers defeated El Reno 25-14, 25-14 and 26-24 and then lost to OBA 11-25, 17-25 and 15-25 in the single elimination tournament.
OBA is ranked No. 5 in Class 5A.
Guymon ends the seaso n palying at .500, 15-15.
Kate Strickland led with 28 kills, followed by Ashton Sledge with seven, Erin Bledsoe with six and Jessie Groves-Rocha with five.
Megan Rogers recorded 40 assists.
Groves-Rocha had five blocks and Bledsoe,one.
Sledge led in aces with five and Strickland recorded three.
“I told the team after the regional final that I was very proud of the way they played vs. OBA. I thought we could have done some things better, especially in serve receive, but they played very hard, never gave up and battled until the last point was scored,” said Guymon coach Ty Ware.
“I thanked the seniors for their work this year and told the underclassmen I hope they can show the dedication the seniors did,” he said.
“Overall, I think we had a good season. There are a few matches I wish we could play again, but I think every coach thinks that,” Ware said.
“For next year, we will have eight seniors, many of whom started or played some varsity this year. We will have a lot of experienced players back on varsity and will go as far as they take us next year,” he said.
