Hardesty wins against Yarbrough

February 1, 2012

Lady Bison

After losing to Balko last week in a 72-35 game, Hardesty bounced back to beat Yarbrough in a tight 28-31 game.
Neither team started off that hot, with both teams only scoring 12 points. At the end of the second Hardesty had already worked up a decent lead. Halftime was 16-13 and it would stay a close game throughout.
Karina Barco led Yarbrough with eleven points in the game and Ramee Aranda scored seven. For Hardesty Larissa Fielder scored 11, and Ayssa D La O scored seven in the win.
In the second half neither team gave an inch and it stayed close right up to the final buzzer. At the end of the third was the largest lead by either team, with Hardesty ahead 23-18.
Yarbrough would come back in the fourth though and hold Hardesty to only eight points in the fourth. That defensive effort gave them a chance to win the game at the end, but it woud not be enough.
Hardesty would lock down the final with a 31-28 win. They will go on to play Freedom on February 3.

Bison

Two high scoring quarters made the boys game interesting Tuesday night. The teams were evenly matched all night, and just like the girls game before, Hardesty won 44-41.
The game was much like the girls game early on, neither team started out exceptionally well. Yarbrough had a 10-5 lead going into the second quarter, but it was not going to be the story of the game.
In the second quarter Hardesty responded in a big way, and they scored 18 points before halftime to earn them the lead. They also held Yarbrough to just four points the entire quarter.
In the third quarter Yarbrough wanted to prove that they would not be outdone. They came out of halftime and scored 18 of their own points in the third and held Hardesty to just five points.
That brought everything down to the fourth quarter. With Hardesty trailing 27-33 and eight minutes remaining it was time for either team to take control of the game. Hardesty was the team that did that. After scoring 27 points in the first three quarters the Bison came out and scored 17 while holding Yarbrough to eight in order to get the three-point win.
Joel De La O led the Bison with 13 points and Morales with 12 points in the game, ten of their points coming in the fourth quarter. Also scoring for Hardesty was: Dalton Beasley 6, Zachary Fuentes 4, Jose Hernandez 4 and Ivan Rivera 3.
For Yarbrough Dallas Palmer scored 15, C.J Ecot 12, Josh Soto 7, Ryan Sauls 5, Damon Thason 1 and Joel Vergara 1.
Hardesty will play Freedom on Friday night, with the girls game starting at 5 and the boys starting at 6:30 p.m.
