Guymon kids circling the state with song

Several Guymon North Park and Jr. High school students will gathering in Turpin with students from other areas in the state, Saturday morning, to participate in the Circle the State With Song (CTSWS) Honor Choir.
According to Guymon School Choir Director Becky Jett, the Oklahoma Music Educators Association sponsors the statewide program.
“We have 176 students fro the Panhandle and Western Oklahoma area participating in the CTSWS Honor Choir , Guymon is taking 40 students from North Park and Junior High,” Jett said. “The statewide organization chooses eight songs that everyone prepares, then on Saturday, the students will meet in Turpin with the visiting conductor and accompanist.”
Jett went onto report, this year’s guest conductor is Sandy Knudsen from Norman, Okla. and the accompanist is Mariah Carrel-Koons form OPSU.
Guymon Junior High students attending are: Nicole Adkins, Heather Admire, Olivia Armstrong, Annie Aubrey, Kayla Davis, Sarah Fowler, Brianna Galvan, Jayda Gann, Yesica Garcia, Lyric Griego, Braeli Hawkins, Christian Hawkins, Jake Heckle, Jordi Almeida, Charleton Lankford, Bradyn Lehew, Salem Mera, Esmeralda Mercado, Cymphony Sandoval, Lesley Zavala and Shardinai Wilson.
Students attending form Guymon North Park are: Cambrian Acevedo, McKenzie Acevedo, Payton Bayless, Candace Booth, Ali Coble, Kyler Coger, Roman Davis, Harvey Delarosa, Magaly DeSantiago, Adam ElAmoudi, Nathaniel Gomez, Bryar Homan, MaryKoren Hudson, Arrington Johanson, Bethany Jones, Jordan Kelley, Samantha McLemore, Paige Pearson, Tayler Perez, Jordan Quesenbury, Rachel Schmitt, Nickalus Urias, Itzel Villa Eh Kaw Wah.
“The students will begin rehearsals at 9 a.m. and work throughout the day, culminating in concert at 3 p.m.,” Jett said. “The public is invited to the final concert at Turpin Auditorium in Turpin, Okla., tickets are $2 for adults.”
