HOOKER—Guymon coach Wesley Bryson said he believes Hooker had never before beaten Guymon at softball.
At least not until last night.
The Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs split a doubleheader with Guymon winning the first game 23-10 and Hooker taking the second 8-4, the first loss by Guymon to Hooker at least in recent years.
“They have never beaten us — ever and they never will,” he said after the second game.
“I was real proud of how they played in the second game. In the second game we fielded the ball real good,” said Hooker head coach Terry Meade.
He said overall, the Lady Bulldogs were more relaxed and handled pressure better in the second game.
“Once we got ahead, Guymon probably had pressure on them,” Meade said.

In the top of the third inning, and trailing 5-2, Guymon again went scoreless. Hooker went three up and three down in the bottom of the third.

“We hit well in the first game. We didn’t in the second game,” Bryson said.
“We’re young and we’re learning,” he said.
There are several freshmen on the Guymon varsity.
“Dana (Jimenez) reacted quick enough on a couple of passed balls,” Meade said.
