Main Street Guymon Director Melyn Johnson has been helping with Guymon Fiesta as it is been going on for years, and says that is a very fun event for everyone to attend.
This year, the Hispanic culture based Fiesta will be held in Downtown Guymon at 5th and Main from 2-9 p.m. on Sept. 16. The venue has changed a couple times, varying from places like the park and Activity Center, but this year, it will be a little different.
“We are going to have it on the street this year,†said Melyn, “but I think that will be excellent! It will still be the same.â€
OPSU offers a scholarship for King and Queen that are crowned at the Fiesta and there will be dancers, arts, pinatas, contests, booths and tables, jump centers for kids, a Karate performance, Mariachi Band “Real de Oro†providing music and a dance with a DJ, and great food.
“The food is an important part of it,†said Melyn.
She went on discuss the different organizations and churches that provide Mexican food and specialties for the event that will be set up for people to eat.
“It’s free to show up, and the Festival is all free,†said Melyn. “It’s just fun!â€
Many Guymon organizations help in sponsoring this event and encourage all to come out for a great time and enjoy Hispanic based activities and food.
