Guardians of the Ribbon

September 4, 2012

This pink 1989 Pierce Arrow fire truck, based in Guymon, is displayed at community events and will be seen high school football games this season. The Guardians of the Ribbon, Oklahoma Panhandle Chapter, brought the truck to Tyrone High School for the Bobcats’ home opener last Friday night, which was also Tyrone’s Alumni Weekend and the 100th anniversary of Tyrone High School. All Tyrone teachers purchased Guardian of the Ribbon T-shirts. From left, Hardesty firefighter and local area president Will Lackey, firefighter Amy Hadley, Adams firefighter Wayland Wehmeier and retired Guymon firefighter James Hill. The group will play host to the Pink Heals Block Party Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Oklahoma Park in Guymon. There will be food, games, volleyball, bingo and a cake walk. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and are available at Sharper Image, Dizzy B’s and Mike Denney CPA. Staff photo/John Plestina
