This Thursday the Goodwell-Yarbrough Eagles football team will play their first football game under the lights at their own home field in Goodwell. The Eagles will face the Satanta (Kan.) Indians at 7 p.m., in the season opener. The Eagles are able to play on their own field thanks to the support of the community, booster club and the Goodwell Independent School District Board of Education. The lights were made possible by several donations including Tri-County Electric Cooperative for the donation of poles, Northwest Lines, of Hooker, for the donation of the materials, labor and time installing the lights. Both of these companies worked with the school and made it possible to get the lights in place in time for this football season. The scoreboard was made possible prior to the 2010 season by donations from CRI Feeders, Anchor D Bank, and Goodwell Farmer Elevator. The stands required long hours that the community and school staff helped with. The football team from OPSU also donated their time to help paint the bleachers and help around the school.
