'Dracula' set to open at Guymon Community Theater

October 18, 2012

The opening production of the 34th season for Guymon Community Theatre is “Dracula,” dramatized by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston from Bram Stoker’s novel.
Production dates are Oct. 26, 27, and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. For reservations call 338-0019. Costumes welcome.
Directed by Tony Hardman, the cast includes Justine Simonson as Miss Wells, Matt Schmitt as Jonathan Harker, Brice Brockmann as Dr. Seward, Darrell Hill as Abraham Van Helsing, Michael Harrison as R. M. Renfield, Joe Peterson as Butterworth, Carol Brockmann as Lucy Seward, Eric Maille as Count Dracula and Bridget Roy as Minna.
For years, “Dracula” has been thrilling England and the USA and is still playing to capacity audiences. The audience will have an ample feast of the mysterious, uncanny and the supernatural.
Lucy Seward, the daughter of the physician in charge of a sanatorium near London, is mysteriously anemic. Doctor Van Helsing, a specialist in obscure diseases, suspects a vampire which, according to legend, is an ugly soul that, grave-bound by day, roams the earth at night sucking the blood of his victims. Van Helsing uncovers Count Dracula as such a vampire.
This production is made possible through the assistance of the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
