HOOKER—The Bulldogs second home game ended in a disappointing loss as Hollis took a 45-21 win away from Hooker Friday night.
“It was one of those games where the score doesn’t really reflect the game,” said Hooker head coach Jake Kreamer.
“We missed some assignments and had some bad breaks,” he said.
Hooker scored touchdowns once in the first quarter and twice in the third. Quarterback scored two on keepers and Taylor McBee scored one on a running play.
Hooker scored first and Hollis came back and tied the game at 7-7. Then Hollis got the ball back. When Hooker was forced to punt, the snap was over the punter’s head and it resulted in a safety, bringing the score to 9-7 in Hollis’ favor.
Hollis intercepted the ball on the 3-yard-line toward the end of the half. What Kreamer called a mishap came when a called time out resulted in 20 seconds being put back on the clock. Hollis scored during that time.
Kreamer praised Hollis as an athletic team.
“They’re a pretty athletic team,” he said and added, “Once again, I felt like we were in good position and we had some things not go our way and it turned around on us.”
Kreamer praised Agustin Barrios for doing a good job on defense.
“Taylor (McBee) had an interception on defense,” he said.
“We scored first with a 7-0 lead. They came back and scored 7-7
“We knew it was going to be a tough game. My guys went out there and did a good job,” Kreamer said. “Some nights go in your favor and some nights don’t. I don’t think the score really reflects how the game went.”
The Bulldogs next play at San Jacinto Christian in Amarillo, Texas, next Friday. Hooker has never played that school.
San Jacinto lost to Floydada 56-6 Friday night.
