Bobcats open hoops season with wins
One week ago Friday night, the Tyrone High School boys basketball team was playing in the Class C football state semifinals in Woodward. This past Friday night, they were playing basketball with just one week’s worth of practice.
It didn’t seem to matter as the Bobcats shook off the first half cobwebs and rolled over Boise City 53-28 to begin the basketball season.
The Lady Bobcats opened their season by easing past Boise City 52-45.
In other area games, the Hooker and Yarbrough boys continued their unbeaten streaks to start the season as the Bulldogs played host to Texhoma and came away with a 70-37 win over the Red Devils, who fall to 0-3 while Hooker improves to 4-0. The Lobos improved to 6-0 with a 68-34 win over Balko.
On the girls side, Hooker downed Texhoma 64-28 to improve to 3-1, while Goodwell also improved to 3-1 with a 78-48 win at Rolla, Kan. Balko took care of the Lady Lobos 30-22.
