Area authorities searching for suspect in Butler County Deputy shooting

A man is on the run after a shooting occurred, injuring a Butler County deputy on Monday.
Jan Tracy Kilbourne, 41, previously of Hutchinson, is a fugitive from Community Corrections in southwest Kansas.
According to authorities, Kilbourne absconded from Cimarron Basin Community Corrections, located in Liberal, on July 24.
A Butler County Deputy pulled over a vehicle on Sept. 2 just east of Wichita and ran a warrant check on three people inside the vehicle.
Upon return to the vehicle, a passenger got out and shot the deputy, striking him in the shoulder, authorities.
The deputy returned fire and hit the man, who ran away after he was hit.
Local authorities say Kilbourne has ties in Texas and Beaver Counties and is considered armed and dangerous.
He has also previously been seen in Liberal.
