Another record year for the Hooker Car Show

September 14, 2012

HOOKER — The Hooker car show not only broke its own record for entries with 231 registered classic cars, pickups and motorcycles but also brought more people to town at one time than anyone can remember. Surely the shine of the cars, trucks and motorcycles could be seen throughout the five-state area Saturday morning.
“Our goal this year was to continue our yearly growth and have more than last year’s total registered vehicles,” said Linda Martin, event organizer. “We felt that exceeding that number was a great accomplishment. We also had an even larger crowd of people attend the festivities.  This year we tried a shuttle service for people that were unable to walk into or through the show.  Whiting Oil and Gas loaned us a couple of mules, and Robbie Wayman loaned out his golf cart.  This was very popular addition to the show.”
There were many popular additions to the car show including more booths and food vendors, including Farmer’s Insurance, Hooker Firefighters, Soldiers for Christ, HHS cheerleader parents, United Methodist Church, Bikers Against Child Abuse, Hooker FFA, Hooker Lion’s Club, Scout Venture Crew, Larrisa Houck, Oklahoma Smoke, Tator Twisters, Sweetie Pies, Barbara Holzrichter and Sammie Livesay, Fudgesicles, Donut X-Press, MJ2, Pizza On Broadway and Angel Cakes.
