Playdays attracting young cowboys from four states

The late Waylon Jennings and other artists recorded “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys.”
Perhaps that’s not true at LM Arena.
Children barely big enough to sit in a saddle through 19-year-olds have competed at LM Arena for about 10 years. Many of them hail from the Guymon area, but others travel from Texas, Kansas and New Mexico.
Guymon Playdays are held again this year at LM Arena, every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., until July 24.
Safety is a priority.

Veteran Texas baseball coach to lead the Tigers in 2013

A veteran coach with 22 years at the helm at Texas schools will be the new head baseball coach at Guymon High School.
The Guymon Public Schools Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Mike Haskell Monday night to take over coaching duties formerly held by Dave O’Sullivan and to teach social studies at GHS.
With the departure of O’Sullivan after heading the GHS math department and serving at the helm of the Tiger baseball program for several seasons, there had been questions of who would replace him.
