OKLAHOMA CITY â The Balko Lady Bison saw their season come to a close in the semifinal round of the Class B State Tournament, as they fell to the Lomega Lady Raiders, 65-46.
Balko was able to stay with Lomega for stretches, but the Lady Raiders managed a scoring run in each quarter that helped them pull away.
âTheir press gave us trouble, and we just couldnât get the ball where we needed to and attack, said Lady Bison coach Mitch Cowan. âThey are awfully athletic and shoot the ball well. They just outplayed us today. Theyâre a really good basketball team.â
ENID â Redemption was sweet Friday afternoon for the Hooker Bulldogs. After losing a heartbreaker to Alva just eight days ago they were able to come back and pound them the second time around, 52-33.
From the very beginning the game felt like a heavyweight-boxing match, with both teams trying to feel each other out on the floor. Neither team wanted to make a crucial mistake in the first quarter. At the end of one, both defenses had been on display with the score a low 9-7 in the Bulldogs favor.
ENID - Itâs going to be deja vuâ tonight at the Enid gym for the area semifinal. After winning their first area game last night Hooker and Alva will face off again. Just eight days after the Goldbugs beat the Bulldogs 41-40, Hooker will have a chance to redeem themselves and get to the area championship.
Hooker won last night against Pawnee for the first area playoff game. Early on it already seemed to have the makings of the all the other Bulldog playoff games, close and exciting to the end. Hooker was able to fend off Pawnee in the final quarter for the 51-42 win.
