In a unanimous 3-0 vote, the Texas County Board of County Commissioners on Thursday morning denied the Memorial Hospital of Texas County Board of Control's recommendation to pursue the hospital lease option.
Carman Louise Woodbury, 12, special daughter of Brad and Carissa (French) Woodbury; passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2012 at her home in Guymon.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Gloria J. Reid, 63, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 27, in Oklahoma City, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Clefton L. Lynch, 100, passed away early Wednesday at Wheatridge Park Care Center, Liberal, Kan.

The future of Oklahoma’s dispute mediation program, Early Settlement Panhandle, was an important topic on the Texas County Commissioners agenda this week.
Early Settlement Panhandle Director Terri Bingham joined the Commissioners for a conference call with the Administrative Office of the Courts Director, Sue Tate, to discuss the reason and possible solutions surrounding the community service program.
Bingham explained the program provides residents with an alternative dispute resolution system, instead of going to court, having the judge decide the outcome and accruing court cost.

The Memorial Hospital of Texas County Board of Control voted 4-3 on Tuesday night to recommend to the Texas County Board of County Commissioners that the county pursue leasing the hospital.
The motion was made by Dallas Mayer and seconded by John Board. Mayer, Dr. Wayne Manning, Board and chairperson Mary Beth Ebersole voted yes while John Nye, Wayne Johnson and Dr. Kelly McMurry voted against the measure.
Archie Leon McCoy, age 73, of Elkhart, Kan. died March 25, 2012 at his home in Elkhart. He was born Sept. 9, 1938 in Lindsay, Okla. the son of Archie and Lucille (Dodd) McCoy.
Graveside memorial service will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Elkhart Cemetery with Reverend Gary Murrell officiating. Memorials may be given to Archie McCoy Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
Jimmy Ray Castor of Haskell, Okla., passed from this life in his home on March 21, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Jim was born in Coweta, Okla. on May 22, 1939.
Jim was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959, and had a successful career as a mechanic until he retired. He held ASE Master Heavy Duty Truck and ASE Master Automobile technician certifications. He was employed at Phillips Petroleum Co. from 1979 to 1995 and Seaboard Farms from 1995-1999, when he relocated from Guymon to Haskell.
Gloria J. Reid, 63, of Oklahoma City and formerly of Guymon, died March 27, 2012 in Oklahoma City after battling cancer.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Guymon.
Area youth volunteers recently assisted the Northwest Center for Behavioral Health with “Reward Reminder Visits,†also known as Tobacco Compliance Checks for Texas County communities.
According to Prevention Coordinator Ashley Ferguson, stores where tobacco products are sold in Guymon, Hooker, Tyrone and Texhoma were visited randomly by volunteers, under the age of 18, who attempted to purchase tobacco.
