PASW gearing up for regional Special Olympics

The Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop (PASW) has been preparing for more than a month and is geared up and ready to host the 2012 Regional Special Olympics on Saturday.
The event will take place at the Guymon High School track/football field and will feature approximately 75 Special Olympians of all ages from the surrounding areas. Participants have been training on the various events, including, softball throws, running relays and walks, javelin throws, shot put throws and standing and running long jumps

Weaver quietly volunteers for MSG

Having a project happen because someone just steps up and says, “I’ll do it” is worth more than gold. Cindy Weaver did that with the Livin’ Green Race.
Race Director Rick Roberts had his partners in the endeavor and made the race happen. And it happened very successfully. He offered to the Main Street Shutterbugs the opportunity to come in and take photos, with three $50 prizes offered to the top three photos of the race, to be used for promotion purposes.

Victory Memorial UMC ready for Easter Cantata

Victory Memorial United Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Easter Cantata, “You Thought of Us,” on Sunday with two special performances.
According to Choir Director, Sandy Cross, the cantata will depict the story of Christ’s serving suffering and resurrection, through songs by the Chancel Choir, soloists and a small orchestra.
