Iva M. Elliott, 97, of Hardesty passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 22, 2012 at her home in Hardesty.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Hardesty Community Church, 221 SW Crawford in Hardesty. Interment will follow at the Hartville Cemetery, SE of Hardesty. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

As preparations for this yearâs Pioneer Days are already underway, the deadline for the 2012 Pioneer Queen and Parade Marshall is Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
Old Timers Committee Chairman, Joyce Smith reported, nominations are still being accepted, however, nominees must meet specific criteria to be considered.
âThe criteria is what is important, there is certain things necessary to qualify,â Smith said. âSometimes we get names that donât qualify at all and have to dis-count them before we even get started.â
Itâs time once again for the Panhandle Lions Annual Better Living Show, which will be held at the Texas County Activity Center, Feb. 25, fro 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Feb. 26, from 12-5 p.m.
The event is the groupâs largest fundraiser of the year and the funds raised are used for community outreach projects, such as the Kids Christmas Shopping Spree.
Lions Member Marvin Andrews reports, throughout the show more than 31 vendors will be on hand and live entertainment and various activities are scheduled.
The Guymon Convention and Tourism board met in an abbreviated session Tuesday afternoon, approving the final reports for three items and making a few changes to the board structure.
Sam Bhakta was named the board chair, replacing K.C. Rothschopf in that position, and Vishal Patel was named the boardâs vice-chair.
âYou ran the last meeting and it looks like you did an excellent job,â Rothschopf joked after nominating Bhakta.
Juanita Lenora Smith passed away in Guymon on Feb. 16 at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 5 days. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Coleman County, Texas to Ethel (Bailey) and Ules Duncan.
She Attended the Voss, Texas school system and graduated with the class 1946 as valedictorian.
She was married to Oble Dooley and to this union two daughters were born, Linda and Vickie.
On April 3, 1977 she was married to Gwin Smith in Miami, Okla.
Juanita owned and operated the Me-Too Day Care Center in Alva for 37 years. She touched the lives of hundreds of families.
Carolyn June âKetchumâ Crist, went home to be with the Lord and her parents on Feb. 14, 2012 at the age of 70. She was born on April 18, 1942 in Elkhart to Carl and Christine Ketchum. Carolyn was raised in Elkhart where she has left behind many friends and loved ones.
She lived many years in Wichita and was very active in Sweet Adelineâs. She worked for Pony Express for many years out of Liberal before she moved back to Elkhart to be with her mother and help care for her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Christine, her sister Donna and her niece Deana.
