Orval R. Young, 94, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away March 17, 2011 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.
Orval was born September 20, 1916 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the son of Miles and Flora Williams Young. He attended rural school near the farm and later Hooker High School where he graduated.

Earl F. Burns, 93, of Lawrence, Mass., passed away on Tuesday, March 8th, 2011, at the Bedford VA hospital in Bedford, Mass.

Dr. Harold Cleveland Reid

Dr. Harold Cleveland Reid, 87, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born July 2, 1923 at Guymon, OK, the son of Albert C. and Ethel Pearl (Gross) Reid.
He graduated from Guymon High School in 1942. After serving in WWII, he attended Denver University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School receiving his Doctorate degree in Dentistry.  He was a Dentist in Liberal, KS for many years.

‘Cowboy Poets’ visit Lions Club

The Panhandle Lions Club met Wednesday for their lunch meeting at the Ambassador.
In addition to the regular club agenda, the Lions were pleased to welcome special guests, Ivan and Judy Cates, who entertained the group with a combination of poetry and music.
The Cates are Cowboy Poets from a Poet Club in Amarillo, Texas.
The husband and wife team, sang several cowboy songs and quoted a variety of cowboy poems. Ivan played the guitar, while Judy presented several poems and both sang songs.

Ruiz joins Pronews 7

Travis Ruiz, former reporter for The Guymon Daily Herald, is now a member of the KVII-TV Pronews 7 team.
Travis joined Pronews 7 of Amarillo in February as its Interactive Managing Editor. In his new position, Travis is responsible for all online and interactive content at the station's website, connectamarillo.com.
"I am so excited to have joined the Pronews 7 team," said Travis. "It's kind of like a dream come true. I grew up watching the station and now I am working here."

Jo Linda (Jody) Frazier

Jo Linda (Jody) Frazier, 59, passed away January 17, 2011 in Greeley, Co. She was born July 6, 1951 in Guymon, OK to Joe and Doris (Hendershot) Frazier.
Jody was employed by the Elkhart Police Department in 1967 as a dispatcher and later for the Elkhart and Morton County Sheriff's office in Elkhart when the town of Elkhart and Morton consolidated their dispatch services. She worked for Morton County for 21 years and at the end of her career was the Communications Director.
She moved to Greeley, CO in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Doris Frazier.

Yvonne (Wooldridge) Ralstin

Yvonne (Wooldridge) Ralstin, age 75, of Guymon, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at the Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas.
Yvonne was born September 8, 1935 in Hardesty, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Ora Wooldridge and Evolena (Stump) Wooldridge. She attended Hardesty School through the 8th grade, and then moved to Guymon to complete her education, graduating with the GHS Class of 1953.
